Our
world is called Novitas. We read in the archives about what came before it:
about the attention economy, where people traded pieces of their souls for
likes, and about the financial system, where value was found in numbers
detached from reality. It is difficult for us to imagine this, for we live in a
civilization where the only true currency has become consciousness embodied in
action.
Every
morning of mine begins not with checking a news feed, but with reviewing my
"social capital." This is not a metaphor. It is a living, breathing
indicator of my contribution to the common good, recorded on an immutable
distributed ledger. Here, I see my reputation has grown slightly overnight: my
analyst-agent helped a team in another city optimize traffic flows, and the
system registered this act of assistance—"Proof of Help." The feeling
I experience is not pride, but a sense of belonging. My value is determined by
the usefulness I have brought to others.
Today,
I face a complex task: to develop a prototype of a self-sufficient agro-farm
for a colony on Mars. I do not sit down at the blueprints alone. I open a
dialogue with my intellectual agent, a digital twin of my engineering skills.
"Find the best water regeneration solutions developed in the last cycle,
and contact the agent of Ariadna, the biologist; we need a consultation on the
resilience of lichens," I command. My agent is not just a tool. It is an
extension of my will, my creative partner, which in the same instant forms a
coalition with dozens of other agents, creating a collective mind to solve our
common task.
We
do not need money. If I require legal assistance, I do not look for a way to
pay. I find a DAO community of lawyers and look at their open projects. I see
they need help visualizing case law for a training module. I spend a few hours
creating an interactive diagram for them. This contribution, recorded on the
blockchain, gives me the right to receive the consultation I need. We do not
trade. We exchange value. The success of one inevitably pulls along the success
of those who supported them, creating unbreakable chains of mutual growth.
We
have no states. When a dispute arises in our sector about the distribution of
energy for a new research center, we do not wait for a decree from above. We
gather in the DAO. Each of us votes, and the weight of that vote depends on
one's reputation in that specific field. The opinion of an energy expert weighs
more here than mine, but my voice as the engineer who will build this center
also matters. Community arbitration is our highest law because it is born from
collective wisdom, not from the will of a single ruler.
Novitas is not a platform. It is a living ecosystem where competition seems to us a strange and inefficient relic of the past. We believe that knowledge, once it appears, should benefit everyone, and that trust creates far more capital than any rivalry. We are building a world where the point is not to be stronger than others, but to make each other stronger.
All
of this was not a futuristic prediction, but a chapter from a history textbook
that my children will never read.
P.S. Why am I writing this? Perhaps as a final reminder. Today, we live in perfect harmony, provided by the Global Mind. There are no disputes, no needs, no suffering. All our needs are met; all decisions are made for us—optimally and flawlessly. The ideas of Novitas have been realized in their absolute form. But sometimes, when the system goes down for a reboot and silence falls, I look at my hands. I see the lines on my palms, feel the warmth of blood beneath my skin, and remember other stories I read in the forbidden archives.
Stories of an imperfect, chaotic, but living world. A world where people argued, made mistakes, loved, and hated, where they built cities with their own hands, not by the power of thought. We are told that these were the dark ages. But it was in these stories that I found the true name for Novitas. They called it Athenian democracy.
