The company
"Hades" offered insurance policies to souls not yet embodied,
covering cases of non-birth, stillbirth, or even non-conception. This
insurance, a kind of unemployment benefit, was vital for wandering souls
waiting their turn for "employment" - the embodiment into a new body.
It served as a form of compensation, allowing souls to continue their existence
while waiting.
However, the insurance contract contained a special clause concerning the capricious behavior of souls who refused embodiment for reasons not related to work. Such cases were not covered by the insurance, and souls were warned about this when signing the agreement.
Souls
deprived of insurance support due to their capriciousness found themselves in a
difficult situation. They were forced to seek illegal "side jobs,"
temporarily inhabiting dying bodies while still waiting for their legitimate
turn for embodiment.
There was a
kind of "blacklist" for souls, limiting their waiting time. Usually,
souls were given six months for "settling in" (as they called getting
a new body). If, for objective reasons, a soul could not find a suitable body
during this time, it received an insurance payment and continued to wait.
But if
souls evaded work, the Employment Service initiated a thorough investigation to
identify illegal sources of their existence. If serious violations were
discovered, the souls were "written off" and branded. Deprived of
their means of subsistence, they disappeared without a trace.
In essence,
embodiment was like receiving temporary housing. In the event of the body's
death, the soul received an insurance payment that also covered this case. The
soul was then offered to re-register with the Employment Service while waiting
for a new body.
